Services
Augmentation for Integration of Leprosy (SAIL)
This special initiative of Swiss Emmaus was extended in the
district of Coimbatore in Tamilnadu as a collaborative venture
with the Government of Tamilnadu. This programme is intended
primarily to assist in augmenting services aimed at
eliminating leprosy in campaigns by intensifying IEC services,
capacity building of the General Health Staff, introducing
POID services at the PHC level and to support and sustain
advocacy at the District level to help leprosy affected
persons socially reintegrated and empowered. The different
services offered by SAIL at the district level are given
below:

Disability
Prevention and Education in Leprosy (DISPEL) District
level field based action programme on Disability Prevention
and Education in Leprosy (DISPEL) had been started during the
year 2000 in the districts of Guntur and West Godavari as per
the request of Government of Andhra Pradesh. Recently the
programme has been extended to Khammam, Rangareddy and East
Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh.
Prevention of
Disability services such as self care education, ulcer care,
supply of MCR footwear and self care kits etc. provided to all
the needy patients through Mobile Action Teams at every
service delivery points established in each and every Primary
Health Centres in these districts. The details of the
