Swiss Emmaus-India placed five District Technical Support Teams in the states of West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka & Orissa.

The main purpose of District Technical Support Team (DTST) is to strengthen the process of integration of leprosy services with General Health Services and thereby support NLEP to achieve national elimination goal. These support teams are located at the District Head quarters but has to work in either one or more districts depending upon operational requirement as per the revised criteria of Government of India.

Each Technical Team consists of one Medical Officer (Epidemiologist), Non Medical Supervisor and a vehicle (four wheeler) with driver. The DTST Medical Officer will first discuss his monthly programme in advance with the District Leprosy Officer and plan the PHC area - wise programme in which their technical services are most needed.
