Participation
In The Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme
Government of India recognized the need of close collaboration with NGOs in implementing
the RNTCP TB programme at National, State and District level in India. The following five
schemes were offered by the Government of India (NTP) to NGOs to participate in the
RNTCP programme.

The planned activities to ensure the participation of NGOs as partners in the RNTCP include:

Inviting representatives of NGOs to serve as members of the coordination committee
at the different levels.

Providing interested NGOs with information and literature on
RNTCP.

Involving NGOs in planning, implementation and evaluation of TB control programme
through various coordination committees of RNTCP
programmes.

Inviting NGOs to visits pilot sites to get a better understanding of RNTCP
and share there knowledge of working with TB patients / providers.

Involves NGOs working in the districts to participate in RNTCP in particular
geographical areas.

Involving NGOs to participating RNTCP training.

The GLRA India in fact involved in many of the above activities.
GLRA India and their supported NGOs have entered under various schemes and
committees of RNTCP in India and expanded its collaboration through its 36 supported
NGOs in different parts of the country covering about 6.8 million population and registered
5851 TB new patients during the year. The average cure rate was maintained about 87%
which is more than the targeted cure rate of 85%.
